What we’re working on.

Work is well underway to build the case for Washington.

The Council is assembling the facts and data that prove Washington’s aerospace infrastructure and workforce are second to none and depict how critical aerospace is to the state’s economy. The Council is also identifying programs, policies, and initiatives to help secure the NMA and strengthen the state’s entire aerospace industry.

Training the Workforce of the Future

The NMA Council is proposing a comprehensive and collaborative strategy to support the needs of Washington’s workers and aerospace employers. Aerospace Economic Impact Report

On behalf of the Council, the Aerospace Futures Alliance is leading our effort to commission an update of the Aerospace Economic Impact Study through 2017. This report documents the investments made in Washington by the aerospace industry, including Boeing. Additional information from the study will quantify the state’s investments in workforce training programs, higher education, and transportation improvements – all of which are vital to aerospace. Findings will be reported soon!

Teal Group Competitiveness Study

Thanks to an early financial contribution from International Association of Machinists District 751 and the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace, the Council retained the nationally recognized Teal Group and their analyst Richard Aboulafia to conduct an Aerospace Competitiveness Study. Data used in the report clearly demonstrates that Washington has the best competitive environment for building the new airplane by a wide margin. Read the full report.

Innovative Workforce & Education Strategy

The Council has called together the state’s top leaders in K-12 and higher education, workforce training, career connected learning, and more to develop an innovative strategy to produce highly skilled workers in aerospace and related industries. Read the full report.

Aerospace Futures Alliance Suppliers Task Force

Additionally, the Aerospace Futures Alliance is leading an NMA Task Force made up of suppliers and other aerospace companies to support the statewide efforts to win the design, production, and final assembly of the Boeing NMA for Washington – building upon our strengths as a state and an industry.
